Real range test: do electric cars tell the truth?

We tested by the hand of Coches.net the real autonomy of 15 electric cars and revealed the failures of the WLTP regulation.

The homologation cycle WLTP replaced an erratic cycle NEDC, which was far from the actual consumption and autonomy of the cars marketed in Europe. The new tests put manufacturers on the ropes but they still have weak points, especially in the context of electrification. Coches.net organized the EcoBest Challenge Electrified by VinFast with the collaboration of Autobest and Circutor, with a clear objective: to discover the truth about the autonomies of electric cars and their charging process. The event took place in the surroundings of Terrace and Barcelona, with 15 electric models with a minimum of 200 kilometers of autonomy and a price of up to 35,000 euros before taxes. The results showed that no model meets what was promised in the cycle WLTP and it was confirmed with the following veracity ranking, the first being the closest to the approved autonomy: Dacia Spring, Kia e-Niro, Hyundai Kona, Mazda MX-30, Opel Corsa-e, Renault Zoe, Fiat 500 e, Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen ID3, Opel Mokka-e, Cupra Born, Peugeot e-208, Peugeot e- 2008, Honda and Citroën ë-C4.

The results were obtained after having the participation of several journalists from the automobile sector, who took turns so that the human factor interceded as little as possible and made a mixed route of highway (50%), conventional highway (20%) and city ( 30%). At first, they drove in a convoy, avoiding the slipstream, for a stretch of 60 kilometers until the autonomy dropped to 60 kilometers. At that time they went on a tour of 22 kilometers until it is below 20 km of autonomy. At that time it was circulating near Circutor up to 0 kilometers, without completely draining the battery.
