The Bitcoin programmer and evangelist Andreas M. Antonopoulos, announced this Tuesday, December 7, the publication of his new book “Mastering the Lightning Network: A Second Layer Blockchain Protocol for Instant Bitcoin Payments”.
The launch was announced by Antonopoulos himself, through his account on the social network Twitter, where he mentions that it is already the best-seller on Amazon, in the Finance section. The title of the book in Spanish would be: “Mastering the Lightning Network: A Second Layer Blockchain Protocol for Instant Bitcoin Payments”. However, a version of the full text translated into Spanish is not yet available.
As defined in the CryptoNews Cryptopedia, the Lightning Network (LN) is a decentralized network for instant micropayments and high volume transactions, without custody or trusted third parties. Antonopoulos’s new text seeks to become a practice guide for those interested in deepening their understanding of LN and take advantage of its features to increase the speed and privacy of your Bitcoin exchanges.
In this opportunity, Antonopoulos shares the authorship of the new work with prominent developers of the Ligthning network, like Olaoluwa Osuntokun and Rene Pickhardt. The former is the co-founder and CTO of Lightning Labs, and the latter is a data scientist focused on academic research and technical content disclosure on privacy and reliability of payments with the Lightning Network.
For his part, Andreas Antonopoulos is a Bitcoin-focused author, speaker, educator, recognized for his simple pedagogical style, easily understood by people with or without technical knowledge. It has important works that have become a reference inside and outside the Bitcoin ecosystem. Among the most widespread is Internet del Dinero (The Internet of Money) and Dominating Bitcoin (Mastering Bitcoin).
Lightning Network available to developers and non-technicians as well
Based on the information available, the book is intended for developers, system architects, investors, and entrepreneurs. That is to say, people who have already advanced in understanding the fundamentals of Bitcoin. However, at least two chapters suitable for non-technical people are included.
The work addresses topics such as the scalability of the Bitcoin blockchain through LN, the standards of Basis of Lightning Technology (BOLT), the 5 layers of the LN protocol suit, basic concepts including how to operate an LN node, among others.
A draft of “Dominating the Lightning Network” was published on a Github repository in September, as reported by CryptoNews. Although it is not the final version, refined by O’Reilly, the publishing house that was responsible for the publication, it is an option to access the ideas of Antonopoulos, Osuntokun and Pickhardt on LN.
The book is available on Amazon, both in a physical paperback version and in a digital version for Kindle.
