The blockchain center of Catalonia has announced that next week it will make official the launch of the Catalan metaverse known as Catvers. The news would have been made known by Quirze Salomó, executive president of the Blockchain Center of Catalonia (CBCat) in an interview on the program Revolución 4.0 of Catalunya Radio.

Known as Catvers, the new monolingual metaverse that seeks to promote Catalan language and culture on the Internet, aims to become the virtual space of reference for Catalan society inspired by its culture, and the Catalan language, since the survival of that language passes for its use in the digital environment, they point out on their website. “We are all aware that the increasingly technological context in which we operate encourages us to use English more frequently. However, Catalan is one of the minority languages ​​with the greatest presence on the Internet and, therefore, we want to make sure that it is also in these new environments ”, said Salomó.

According to the website of the Blockchain Center of Catalonia, this metaverse will use blockchain technology as it is a technology that will allow users to move from the Internet of information (Web 2.0) to the Internet of value (Web 3.0), providing the differential characteristic necessary for the existence of metaverses in a continuous, safe and effective way. For his part, the president of the CBCat added that this new metaverse should be seen as if they were different web pages, but in the format of interactive virtual environments, he also pointed out the need to ensure that citizens were empowered “so that they are the people who governs in these new environments ”, he indicated.
