Catalonia will ask Sánchez a curfew and five barons to return the masks outdoors

The regional presidents of Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencian Community, Galicia and the Basque Country, announced yesterday that they will transfer to the Chief Executive, Pedro Sánchez, at the Conference of Presidents the need to resume the mandatory use of the mask outdoors as one of the measures given the explosive increase in coronavirus cases in recent days. Catalonia will ask to restore the curfew and limit Christmas gatherings to no more than ten people.

This is how these regional leaders have spoken at the moment about the requests that will be transferred to Sánchez at the Conference of Presidents to be held online this Wednesday to address the increase in the accumulated incidence in Spain.

In addition to this measure, the regional leaders will raise other demands to contain the passage of the Omicron variant in the territories.

In this context, the presidents of Andalusia and the Basque Country will request an Anti-Pandemic Law, while those of the Valencian Community and Galicia will propose Unify the criteria for requesting the Covid Certificate.

For its part, Catalonia has also joined Andalusia and Murcia and the three leaders will ask at the Conference of Presidents that the Covid Fund for the autonomous communities be started again next year. In the case of the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, who does not believe it necessary to declare a state of alarm or exception, will propose a review of the situation in terms of mass events.

The Andalusian Government will face the meeting with a double requirement: the elaboration of a Pandemic Law, which serves as a legal framework for all the autonomous communities, and that the State re-allocate money for the so-called Covid Fund in 2022. In addition, these days it has influenced the request to return the mandatory nature of the mask outdoors.

This afternoon the Health Service of the Principality of Asturias will hold a new internal working meeting with various ministries to analyze the situation and see what will be the proposals that the Principality is going to make at the Conference of Presidents. Precisely, the Asturian regional president, Adrián Barbón, has tested positive for Covid-19, although he has already been discharged from hospital.

The president of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, will participate in the Conference of Presidents “to defend their measures against Covid-19, also legally endorsed.” Also the Balearic president is positive in Covid-19.

The President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano Garcia-Page, has advocated reflecting on the use of the mask and generalizing it again, as well as addressing the situation in mass events in preparation for the presidents’ conference that will take place this Wednesday. Likewise, the socialist president believes that it will not be necessary to declare a state of alarm or exception.

The Catalan Executive hopes that the Conference of Presidents will serve to deal “jointly” with the way to appease the increase in infections. The Generalitat once again closes nightclubs and reintroduces capacity restrictions in bars, restaurants, shops, cinemas and theaters to try to stop the spread of the pandemic. In addition, he asks the Justice for a curfew and to prohibit gatherings of more than 10 people for Christmas.

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has announced that it will defend a generalized use of the mask and “a definitive impulse to the unification” of the COVID certificate throughout Spain and in this regard has called on all communities to avoid “useless confrontations” and seek “a common spirit.”

The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has bet this Monday because, among the new measures that are determined for the State as a whole, the general obligation to wear a mask outdoors is included, compared to the current regulations that allow it to be removed in the event that there is a safety distance between pedestrians and there are no crowds.

“In this crowded time, it can be a very powerful instrument; to replace the mandatory mask on the street again, it seems to me a very prudent measure “, has certified the Galician president, who has bet that this measure is extended until the end of January.

In addition, it has also put on the table to promote the use of the covid certificate and assess the possibility that there is no need to wait six months between the second and third doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, will pass on the “example” of his government’s management of the coronavirus at the Conference of Presidents and has once again rejected that they carry out “more closures.”

In the case of the Murcian government, sources from the regional executive criticize Sánchez for “17 different Christmases”. In addition, they also request the Covid Fund in 2022 to face the health expenditure derived from the fight against the coronavirus.

The Lendakari, Íñigo Urkullu, has advanced that it will transfer the need to re-establish the mandatory use of a mask outdoors, as well as the request that ordinary state legislation be amended through an Anti-Pandemic Law.
