The leader of UGT Madrid resigns after denouncing a possible corruption plot in the union

The Secretary General of the UGT Madrid, Luis Miguel López Reillo, resigned from his position this Tuesday, days after reporting to the police a corruption plot in the union, sEgún has communicated in a Twitter message to the affiliates.

In his tweet, as reported by union sources, López Reillo affirms that he resigns out of “political responsibility and personal dignity” and explains that “police investigations will continue to clarify the facts.”

Last Saturday, the newspaper ‘El Mundo’ reported that López Reillo had reported to the National Police a possible case of corruption in the union, which could have diverted at least one million euros from the Salary Guarantee Fund (FOGASA).

According to journalistic information, in the corrupt plot a union administrative officer is allegedly involved, daughter of the parliamentarian of the PSOE of the Madrid Assembly Carmen López, and banking entities that managed the funds of public money destined for dismissed employees.
