Alberto Rodríguez asks Batet to return his seat because his sentence “has already been extinguished”

The former deputy of United We Can Alberto Rodriguez has asked the president of Congress, Meritxell Batet, that “without further delay” he return the seat that was withdrawn after being convicted of the crime of attacking agents of the authority.

In the two-page letter signed yesterday, Tuesday, to which Europa Press has had access, Rodríguez has alleged that his sentence “has now expired”, once “the sentence imposed ends on December 5, 2021.”

“Bearing in mind the foregoing, as well as the absence of any legal or constitutional norm that enables you to deprive me of my position as elected deputy, I request you please, without further delay, restore me in the same as there is no longer any penalty pending compliance, “he said.

The leader has taken advantage of the closing of his letter to wish “a speedy improvement” to the president of the House, who recently tested positive for coronavirus.
