Two days before the end of the year, and with an incidence in Spain skyrocketing to more than 1,200 cases, some communities continue to impose time limit restrictions on nightlife or in the hospitality industry. Meanwhile, other regions continue to debate what measures to follow with the party favors and the parties of End of the year and the horseback riding of the Three Kings day on the table.

In the case of Galicia, the hotel business will close from midnight from the night of December 30 to 31 until January 18, except on Fridays and Saturdays, which will last until 1 in the morning. In the case of nightlife, you can close the doors at 2. Even so, the last night of the year is pending, since the department is considering allowing a range until 3 o’clock or the definitive closing, if the sector considers it « non-viable”.

In addition, meetings will be limited, which will be prohibited between 2:00 and 6:00 in the morning. Another of the measures that the community will impose is the delay in opening the hotel business, at 10 am, on New Year’s Day. In the case of the Kings parades, they will be held in a “static” format and crowds will be avoided, complying with the necessary safety distance.

In the opposite situation is Madrid, without nightlife restrictions to tackle the Ómicron variant in sight, it will authorize two or three macro parties New Years Eve that have Covid contingency plans and other security requirements. This was announced yesterday by the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and the Interior, Enrique López, who pointed out that of the five macro-parties that have requested authorization, some will not be able to be held because they do not meet the requirements that would have been demanded “even before the pandemic.” López added that in pre-ndemic times, the Community of Madrid received a request from 60 parties in different parts of the region, while this year has remained “anecdotal” by reducing that number to five, of which four “will not exceed the 500 people». There are also, “for the moment”, the 7,000 people at Puerta del Sol on New Year’s Eve and the traditional San Silvestre vallecana.

On the other hand, Canary Islands will request the curfew to the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) for the nights of 31 and Kings. In this way, and if the Justice endorses it, the movement of people in the islands of level 2 -La Palma and La Gomera- will be restricted from 02:00 to 06:00 hours and in the islands with level 3 -Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife- from 01.00 to 06.00 hours during those days in order to bend the contagion curve. Contrary to what the Government of Aragon, which has agreed with the hospitality industry to make an exception to the latest decreed measures, and on New Year’s Eve they will be able to extend the closing time until 02.00 hours, equating it with the nightlife.

The Board of Andalusia has chosen to delegate to the town councils so that they make the “most correct” decision regarding the festivities and party favors on the 31st and parades on the 5th. In this way, municipalities such as Benalmádena, in Malaga, already announced this Tuesday the suspension of the partiesend of the year of the Christmas program due to the high incidence of Covid-19. For its part, in Asturias
The discos, dance halls … will not open on the last day of the year, since the community made the decision to close – since last Tuesday and for a month – the interior of the nightlife venues. The closure of the hotel business will have to be at 01:00 hours maximum, except for spaces intended for terraces.

Some cities, such as Valencia, Alicante and Elche, already canceled some New Year’s Eve celebrations last week to prevent them from taking place. agglomerations of thousands of people in their plazas. However, the Entertainment Service of the Department of Justice has authorized the holding of two extraordinary parties New Year’s Eve, one of them in Valencia with a capacity of 772 people, and the second in the Julieta Restaurant in Castellón for 400. As for horseback riding, in Valencia children can enjoy it in a smaller format, without chairs for the public and with fewer floats.
