The historic Galician drug trafficker Manuel Charlin, 89, died this Friday in the house in Vilanova de Arousa (Pontevedra) where he lived with his family after his last release from prison. According to the first information, the patriarch I would have had a domestic fall from which he has not been able to recover.

Charlín was one of the historical tobacco smugglers of Galicia in the 80s who would end up making the leap to the hashish and marijuana trade. His Most notorious arrest took place as a result of the famous Operation Nécora, in 1990, although after the conclusion of the trial four years later the patriarch of the charlines was released without charge. His attitude before the court unleashed the indignation of the courageous mothers who stood up to the drug lords in Galicia in the 80s and 90s.
