The success of that first year as an Excellence test is the reason that the Spanish Association of the International Optimist class (AECIO) repeats for the fifth consecutive year in the bay of Cádiz, something that is not normal in a circuit with the philosophy of rotating through the Spanish clubs.
In this case, the Optimist Excellence Cup Trophy is made up of four regattas, with headquarters, in addition to El Puerto de Santa María, in Vigo, Torrevieja and Palamós. That of El Puerto de Santa María will be the second after the one held in the Galician city and around 200 sailors from eight autonomous communities (Andalusia-Cantabria-Basque Country-Canary Islands-Murcia-Valencian Community-Galicia-Catalonia) and four countries represented (Spain-Portugal-Sweden-Germany).
