The Philippines, a country already struggling to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, has been hit by a catastrophic super typhoon. On December 16, 2021, a typhoon made landfall and raged for four days, leaving 334 cities and municipalities in havoc.
As of January 1, more than 4 million people were displaced or injured, with 407 dead and 88 still missing, according to the Philippine National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
The day after the typhoon hit the country, the play-to-earn gaming collective Yield Guild Games (YGG) organized a donation drive to help victims get help and rebuild their homes.
