TCL Book 14 Go: TCL’s first ARM laptop hits the educational market with low price and good autonomy

Laptops with ARM have shown their full potential since 2020, and TCL wants to take advantage of it with the new TCL Book 14 Go, an economic laptop with which the company has wanted to join the trend of saying goodbye to Intel or AMD to gain possibilities that their chips do not offer.

The one chosen to empower Windows 11 and ARM It has been the only company that at the moment can work with Microsoft’s operating system, which is none other than Qualcomm. In the TCL Book 14 Go we find a [Snapdragon 7c](TCL Book 14 Go), which is not the best San Diego has, but for a light-duty approach to education it may be more than sufficient.

A slim and lightweight notebook for lightweight and office needs

The TCL Book 14 Go is an entry-level laptop with which the Asian company targets a very specific target audience, students and young people who do not need a lot of power and do need a certain lightness and autonomy. In that sense, this laptop weighs 1.3 kilos and is 13.95 millimeters thick, so it competes with ultrabooks in this regard. It is larger in other aspects, as it has a 14.1 “screen, with a 1366 x 768 panel of technology not indicated by the brand. For video calls, the equipment has a 1 megapixel front camera that records at 720p.

In his body we find plastic, but also a metal frame that gives it some strength and durability, in addition to a slightly more aesthetic premium. Inside, as we said, there is a Snapdragon 7c, an entry-level chip with eight cores up to 2.4 GHz, and with the Adreno 618 as the CPU.

It is not the latest from Qualcomm in this range, as it has already been presented until the third generation of the 7c. The TCL Book 14 Go incorporates LTE connectivity via nanoSIM cardsIt uses Qualcomm’s built-in X15 LTE modem for this, which offers speeds of up to category 4.

Everyone wants their own ARM chip: Google, Apple, Huawei and Samsung already make their SoCs, but there are many more in the game

Storage is 128GB, but can be expanded with SDHC and SDCX cards. The RAM, like the rest of the equipment, will offer input performance, with 4 GB. In what this configuration helps the most is in autonomy, since the laptop offers, according to TCL, up to 12 hours of autonomy with its 5,300 mAh, although they do not detail under what circumstances it has been tested. To the charge, TCL uses a USB-C port with Power Delivery, with a 24-watt charger built into the box. It also has a USB 3.0 port
